Time for new beginnings

So I started this dieticians plan on the 5th March and its been 6 weeks! And I think I am still 79 kgs! I have been bad, too many public holidays and events.

So today (15 April 2009) I have restarted my plan.

Will stick to my eating and weigh myself next week Friday and report back.

Why is it so difficult, wish there was a magic tablet to take away my cravings and so I could just say no to all the bad foods!!

Went for my weigh in with the dietician on the 20th of March and lost 3kgs so I weigh 79 now!

That was in three weeks and one week of eating nonsense on holiday.

I haven't been as strict as I promised I would be but I need to! I can feel I have put on some weight, I went away for the weekend and ate so much! Will weigh myself tommorrow and post the weight.

I feel like I have gained but I also am pre menstrual at the moment. Want to post a before pic soon.

Today is the first day of my renewed attempt to lose the bulge!

It has been 10 months since the birth of my daughter Rania and I am still battling to lose the weight. In reality I ate like Miss Piggy during and after my pregnancy. And not that I have now come to realisation that I need to lose the weight it has been a constant battle for the last 10 months.

I have bad genes and I always told my mum that I guess the reason why she gained weight is because they did not beleive in going to gym and just settled back into their normal lives after having kids. But now that I have had a baby and I just also settled back into my normal life and was slack at the gym.

Being real with myself and others is important to me. So I will post all my details of my attempt to lose this 17kgs of weight. Its like carrying another person around, maybe a midget LOL.

Weight: 82 kgs
Total to lose: 17 kgs
Target Weight: 65 kgs
Duration: 4 - 6 Months

Mini Goal
Mini Goal Target Weight: 79 kgs
Total to lose: 5 kgs

So I have to lose 17kgs by the 31st July 2009 (which is my birthday). I will update my weight on a monthly basis.

Its finally warming up now, not as cold as it use to be! Its finally on its way... Spring.

Can't wait to start wearing some sandals again and go for a decent pedicure to show it off not cover it up with boots!

Hopefully spring will come with its own blessings.

Planning a vacation for October to Thailand and Malaysia, so I am looking forward to that, needed some motivation to lose weight, now I have some because I wanna look great in my bikini.

But before that, its Ramadan in September. So I am looking forward to that too, its such a spiritual month!

I haven't been productive over this week, been so lazy!

Although I finished a whole lot of work, I still feel lazy and not up for anything.

Tonight I am going to a friends place for supper with my husband. I am actually so excited coz I haven't seen them in ages and Ayesha is pregnant and I am so excited to hear about her pregnancy experience so far!

Yes I am trying for a baby, Inshallah, its all in Allah (SWA's) hands!!!

Some women are fortunate to fall pregnanct immediately after they have left their contraception and some have to wait a while for it to work out of their systems. I guess I am the latter.

But I am happy to just be as well! To carry on enjoying married life and travelling etc.

I also haven't seen alot of my friends, we all have such hectic schedules and its winter so everyone wants to be in the comfort of their own homes.

So I have decided to take up a sport..... I don't know whether you can call it that, but it starts this weekend. Doing my first walk on Saturday with my friends.

5 Km is not much but its a start. The next walk will be on the 22 July, the 702 Walk. But I will check out what others will be happening.

Have to get active, I don't think that I have lost much weight. Been eating all the yummiest food which I cook for my husband.

Need to get a new pair of trainers, been checking on the nike website and found the following which I really like.... comfort and support is very essential. Will go shopping soon!

I haven't been updating my blog in ages! Can't believe its May already and I am married for almost three months already. Time flies.

Married life is great and lots of work but fun work! And we just bought a new house, a beautiful three bedroom house in a lovely suburb. We will also be doing some renovations. The move is in July 2007 so there is lots more work to come.

I have not been updating my blog, been so busy at work and busy with life. Married life is such alot of work, but really good work!

Alhamdulilaah I am very happy and so is my husband. We were married on the 24 February and I can't believe that last saturday we were married 1 month already. Yes.... it is amazing how time flies, actually very scary.

My sister is now staying on her own in the apartment I stayed in and she has a flatmate. So she is settled. But I still worry about her, I guess thats natural!

A big THANK YOU!!! To all my friends who make the wedding really special with all their help! I really appreciate everything you guys did. I will be visiting soon.

So cooking is my top priority at the moment! Been calling friends to ask what they are cooking and for recipes. So I can stay on top of that. It was not always one of my strong points but I have to make it one of my strong points. So far so good, the husband is very happy!

It takes time to master the art and even then, everyone adds their own special touch to their meals but one day I know that my kids will say that they only want their moms cooking!!!

This past Saturday, my friends threw me a Bridal/Lingerie/Pamper Party!!!

It was great fun, I had to dress up in Lingerie ;) and parade around like that all day long, luckily only in front of girls!

We were supposed to have pole dancing lessons but the pole dancer had some crisis so she could not come. So we ended up playing guess the present. And for every present I guessed wrongly, I had to do some embarrasing thing like:

- Pretend to lick cream off my husbands body

- Pretend to be a hooker and pick up a guy on the road

- Pole dance with a broom stick

- Give someone a lap dance

Oh it was so embarrasing but fun at the same time. I received lots of great lingerie and pamper products!

13 Days to Go

Happy Monday everyone

I was so lazy this morning, could not get out of bed. It was so nice and cozy under the blankets and it was also a bit chilly outside. But its a beautiful day. I seriously need a holiday just to relax for a while. I can feel the tiredness setting in and I did not take a proper break in December, just three days.

13 more days until my wedding.... I am so excited and scared at the same time. Went see my dress last week, it is so beautiful! I am so excited. I am going for my last fitting this week and will probably get it this week. Went to order a beautiful Swarovski Crystal taira yesterday, this lady hand makes them so everyone is unique and she uses the same colours as your dress or even jewellry.

Been going to the gym to work out, 20 minutes cardio & 20 minutes on this body vibrating plate, really awesome, there are different programmes for various parts of the body and I always choose abs. You will really feel the difference! And I have been doing abdominal crunches. Going this week as well. Lets hope it lasts for a while even after the wedding. They usually say that married couples will pick up weight after marriage but I doubt that my husband will pick up any weight, he is genetically thin! And I have fat genes and tendancies which means I will have to watch my weight all the time. I do admit that I am emotional eater!

A beautiful Friday morning, Jumuah Mubarak to everyone!

Had supper with two girlfriends last night and we just chatted about life, love and everything else. It was so sad to hear their stories about the men in their lives. How men can be so insensitive and have no remorse about the hurtful things they say and do. And here I am on the verge of getting married and just making dua that my husband treats me right.

I think all women want from their husbands and partners is some respect and a lil bit of loving! You don't have to smother us in material things, just love us a little! Its the small things and the things that come from the heart that count!

Everyone has heard the news that David Beckham will be leaving Real Madrid and has signed a 5 year contract with the LA Galaxy Soccer Club (not the best move, the USA is not famed for its footie ball) Anyway, of course Mrs Beckham was thrilled to be moving close to her BFF Katie Holmes and closer to Hollywood. Hey there, I have not been inspired to right in my blog these last couple of days.

Just been running around like crazy getting things organised for the wedding. Like my fabric and a dress maker and getting a venue and choosing the menu.

That is why I just wanted a simple nikaah! It would have been quick and painless and I would have been so much happier!

Must say that my friends have been so great these last few weeks! helping out and giving great suggestions. THANKS GUYS!

Still carrying on with my diet, I have loads of moments of weaknesses but everyone has been saying I have lost some weight and I am looking good. Lets hope that is true and they are not just being nice.

Such alot of things to look forward to this year. Allah, please give me the strength and keep my friends and family safe and myself and my new husband.

Still trying to fathom that I am actually going to be married and a MRS! Woah, that is great (i think) Need to desperately brush up on my cooking! Especially all the meals he likes.

Happy 2007 to friends, family and everyone else!

Definitely not a great start of the year for me! Last week Wednesday, myself and a few friends got hi-jacked at gun point in front of my apartment complex! They took my friends Mini Cooper S and most valuables and thank Allah, they did not harm us. We were definitely really shook up! I am still shook up, still don't wanna go out at night. Still recovering from the shock.

Today something else happened, which I don't actually wanna talk about, and its really serious!

They always say bad things happen in three, lets hope that this is the last one. I have been making lots of dua lately for safety and security!

Other than that, some happy news. I received some great news that I will be getting married on the 24 February 2007. So I am really happy about that. So I am also trying to get things organised for that.

Feeling quite demotivated at the moment. Lets hope that the rest of 2007 will be peaceful, Inshallah.

Shut Down

I have been sick almost this whole week, first 2 days with the flu then a hectic chest infection and then an eye infection! My body is really shutting down now! Guess its that time of the year.

At least today is my last day for the festive season break but then I am back at work on the 2nd January 2007.

Went to watch the Holiday last night, what a great movie! I cried for almost everything. I love soppy romantic movies and I must say that Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Cameron Diaz were just great! I loved the english accents and the english always make really great movies, I mean look at Bridget Jones (my personal hero) and Nottinghill (and most Hugh Grant movies).

Jude Law also looked very handsome (other than the receding hairline)

I have been obsessing for a while now on this forum I chat on about how do arab girls get their stunning eye make up right. Well spoke to some lovely ladies from Dubai and Oman and here are some of their secrets :

Tips:
To outline the eyes, use black eye shadow first with and edge brush and then apply liquid liner over that.

Use a light eyeshadow on the lid and then use a darker eyeshadow on the outer corner of the eye and smudge it toward the inside of the eye.. make sure u don't smudge it on the whole lid.. just the outside toward half of the upper lid.

After that ...apply black eyeliner on the upper lid and a black eyeshadow on the lower liddon't forget the dark black khol.. bring a lighter and burn it a little bit.. just a sec don't over burn it!!! then apply that.. u can apply it before the eyeshadow to make sure the khol doesn't smudge! Try using hypnos lancome mascara excessivly on the lashes! DIVINE!!that's an easy way to apply eyeshadowor you can check on mac's website and find the looks section.. they have really good tips!

This morning my current flat mate announced that she was expecting a baby. I was so shocked! Who would have thought she would be expecting. Its amazing how things change in no time. So she is planning a shot gun wedding and moving away at the end of January which is going to leave me without someone to cover the half of the rent!

Today all these thoughts are going through my mind about who do I get, when do I advertise etc. Especially when I am planning of getting married and moving by no later than the end of February 07. And then my sister would need to get a flatmate to share with and loads of other things to think about.

Including that the organisation I work for might be closing in June 07 which means I need to get a new job, which is exciting but just I was happy where I am at the moment. In my comfort zone.

Meet the parents

So I met the parents last week Thursday for supper and it was great!

It was so casual and relaxed and they were great and it was a very lovely evening.

Did not know that Caps had such great parents! I thought that it would be all formal and stuff.

Went to a wedding on Saturday night, very beautiful and then went back to spend the rest of the evening with the parents. Ended up playing scrabble and cards with them and the rest of the family and only going home at 4pm.

Then went to a bbq at their place and spent the afternoon chatting and watching tv.

Wow, can't beleive that I met them and that we get along! So now on to the bigger stuff soon!

Yesterday was seriously a blue monday! I was so busy at work!

I can't even look forward to a lovely holiday at the end of December because I need to make a few sacrifices to be ultimately happy next year. Okay, maybe not ultimately happy... but happier.

Went to my friend's baby shower this weekend, I was so shocked to see her, she was very pregnant! And looked so cute! Her baby is due on the 31 December, so she doesn't have very long to go. I was just looking at her and thought, WOW! I can't believe that she's pregnant.... it didn't seem that long ago when we were flat mates and partying up a storm. It is amazing how life changes as you grow up.

One day that will be me.... I am so ready to progress to the next level, husband, baby and family life. I have been ready for a while. So inshallah, 2007 will be the year.

It all boils down to one meeting which is taking place possibly next week. Will let you know what it is and what the outcome is next week.

I have not posted in a while... so a general update:

had burglar bars installed on my windows at home!!! Yippeee, what a relief, now I can sleep tight at night
the diet is going okay..... not losing as quickly as I expected but they always say that people who have a little to lose, lose very slowly
3 weeks till i meet the parents! yeah my boyfriends parents. i am so nervous, what do i say? what do i speak about? i need some advice.

my weekend was good, chilled most of the time and watched movies. yesterday went to watch a cycling event, that is my boyfriends new passion, cycling. he is taking part in a cycle race next year so he has started his training regime. no choice but to join him in his quest, but I am not the cycling type.... i will just watch.

Outrage!

On sunday night three apartments were burgled in our apartment building. One right next to mine, another one door away from me and one more on the second floor. Most of the things taken were things like mobile phones, wallets and jewellry. What freaks me out is that firstly they scaled the building palisade fence and climbed up to the first floor using the ledges and getting through small windows which were open. The freaks entered two of the apartments while the occupants were in there!

I must say Alhamdulilaah that they did not come into my apartment! I would have died just knowing that someone invaded my personal space! So now I am getting burglar proofing put on the windows.

Makes me feel like packing up and leaving this country and going to live somewhere were they chop off your hands when you do such things! And hopefully in these spidermens case, chop off their feet too!

Week 2 on sureslim

Week 1:

It was a total disaster, I was craving carbs like mad and cheating left right & centre. I was feeling totally down and feeling ill at the same time. Over the weekend I made a renewed commitment to stick to the programme.

Week 2:
Well today is the start of week 2 and so far so good, no cravings today, had my breakfast and water etc and just taking it easy. Last week was a nightmare. Joined the sureslim support forum so myabe that will give me some more motivation as well.

Below is my before picture (everyone has to have one). So I need to lose weight around my mid section, thighs and upper arms.

My cheeks are a problem too but I guess that will go down when I lose weight in general!

So lets see what sureslim can do for me!

I just make dua that I lose the weight so I can stop complaining all the time! I irritate myself. So I will be writing more in my blog so that I can keep my mind off foody! YUM YUM

Major Overhaul

Today is the start of my diet, sureslim! So I will post my progress as I go along.

To myself:

I will stick to the diet and finish the programme, I did not pay all that money to lose!
I will not cheat! Not even little bit, if I wanna see progress I gotta stick to it
I will not be tempted by what others are eating
I will not feel sorry for myself!
I will motivate myself everyday
I will succeed

So I am on my way to a sexy bikini body at the end of December, if I stick to it I will lose all the weight by the end of December then I will start on the maintenance programme.

Basically it is a high protein diet with hardly any carbs or sugar and I have to have a special mixed oil which contains omega's, vitamin e, evening primrose oil etc and mixed seeds. I also have to weigh all my food.

Breakfast was not too bad this morning, quite filling....

Yes, it is exactly thirteen days to go and Alhamdulilaah it has been going well. I must say if I did not say so before that this year it has gone extremely well, shukr-Allah.

It has been said that during ramadan there 3 sets of 10 days which has a particular significance.

The first 10 days of Ramadaan - Allah's Mercy upon you
Second 10 days of Ramadaan - Allah's Forgiveness upon you
Last 10 days of Ramadan - Your freedom from the hell's fire

Inshallah, let us all make an effort to gain those rewards.

My special dua goes out to my best friend who is going through a terrible time at the moment. Don't be sad my friend! Remember the favours of Allah upon you and how they surround you from above and below - indeed, from every direction

Week 2

Wow I can't believe that it is week 2 of Ramadan already! It is going very smooth.

I haven't been up to anything much other than work and then cooking for my sister and myself for iftaar. And also been going to friends for iftaar.

Been checking on the web for some more nice dresses which I can get ideas for the special occassion for, here are a few more... been thinking that I will have to adjust the too bare ones like adding some sheer sleeves etc....

Today is the 4th day of Ramadan already, I can't beleive it. I am not feeling too good this morning, tired, drained and I overslept for the morning meal so I ate nothing but before I went to bed last night I had like a litre of water. Gonna try not to do too much today, just relax.

Last week I signed up with www.sure-slim.co.za, they test various things in your body.... and they do a blood test and then forumulate a plan for you. I am so excited to see speedy results. They said I can lose the extra 10 kilos I picked up in a matter of 2 months. Lets see. I am going to get the eating plan tomorrow and start next week.

I am so weak today.... will write later

Insomnia

Good morning... monday mornings are terrible and mine made even worst by not sleeping to well last night. At the beginning of the year I was suffering from insomnia and now again. I wonder what it is.... stress I guess.

Hair

I don't know what to do with my hair, I am growing it at the moment so it is looking a bit shaggy at the moment. My aunt keeps on saying that she wants to see me with lighter hair because it will bring out my eyes, she is so funny.

I don't want to go too light, so I have settled on the colour, take a look. . . .

It is still a bit light for me but I also don't want it to go auburn.... so maybe light brown with no red undertones....

I think I will also go for a carribean tan.... haha, that will be a bit funny

The weekend was okay, weather was great yesterday, so I went to the Design Quarter, it was lovely, sitting out in the sun at this very posh restaurant, drinking mint tea and eating sliced fruit. It was so refreshing... I can't wait for summer

Misery Loves Company

I am so miserable today, not only do I have loads to do, the weather has been shitty, warm yesterday and cold today... I am so miserable.

With Ramadan around the corner, just preparing stuff, ordered my savouries, samoosas, spring rolls, moonies. And I decided that I am going to make mini sheesh kebabs with cheese inside them, it is quite simple... here is the recipe if you wanna try...

CHEESY KEBAABS

Ingredients:

1 egg, beaten ½ cup milk
1 cup fresh bread crumbs
½ tsp ground garlic salt / pepper to taste
1 onion – grated
½ tsp origanum or parsley
500g mince
2 tsp green masala
mozzarella or sweetmilk cheese, cut into strips
¼ cup flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp ground red chillies

Method:

• Combine the first 9 ingredients together, mix thoroughly
• Shape into croquettes (long finger shapes), placing cheese in the center
• Combine the flour, salt and chillies together. Coat croquettes in this mixture
• Dip in egg and breadcrumbs
• Freeze and fry when required
• Deepfry until golden all round

I also want to get some mini pita breads and fill them with chicken filling but that I would have to make fresh

I have not written in a while, I was sick on Tuesday so I left work early and on Wednesday I was sick at home, laying on the couch for most of the day, taking meds and sleeping.

Well I am back at work and yes, it is Friday, what a miserable day, at least the sun is shining a lil bit now but still damn cold.

When is this misery ever going to end?

I want sunshine!!!

Tattoo

Tye had her tattoo done on Saturday..... hectic, she was moaning and groaning but still wanted the thing done. I was a bit jealous at the end result but of course I am muslim and it is not allowed. My BFF (Best Friend Forever) also wants to go for one, she wants a rosary around her ankle just like Nicole Ritchie.

Also spent the weekend at my BFF's place, watched movies and we were chatting about her wedding next year. She asked me to be her Maid of Honour! I am speechless!

The Zoo

My worlplace is honestly like a damn zoo! The animals just wonder in and out as they please and are always hanging out at the watering hole (the kitchen) and gossiping like monkeys.

I mean, what has happened to work ethic and professionalism. They are taking it for granted. One of them is even running her personal business from here, using the phone, fax, email and they even had their very own staff member. Hahaha, it makes me laugh but it also irritates me to the point of not coming to work.

I have complained already and the one with the staff member did get questioned about running her own business.

I mean, I am not asking for a quiet office but one that is functional like every other office I have worked for, respect your workplace and your colleagues and yes, give a damn for a change.

So now I have decided to turn my music up on my earphones and ignore everyone, just greet them and do my own stuff.

They really need a wake up call before it is too late!

Obsession

Am I obsessed? All I do everyday is think about my weight and then I get all depressed and eat anything I can get my hands on.

If it was not for those damn pills I took I would have been a size XS! But now I am a size M bodering on L in some stuff. I hate it.

Weirdly enough, I can't bring myself to starve myself, I have to eat or I feel really shaky. I also have to start gym, I will this month, winter is almost over and I have to have a lovely body!

So what am I doing about my dilemma....

- Eat less, at least 1000 calories a day (that is not bad at all)
- Read, read read, blogs, websites etc to educate myself and get info on what worked for others
- Excercise at least 40 minutes of cardio and some free weights

I have been visiting some anorexic girls sites, not that I am pro anorexia but I was just reading about what extreme methods they use, which will not work for me but I also feel really sorry for them! They try so hard!

Miami Mice

I went to watch Miami Vice last night, how awful. It was the worst movie I ever watched, what was Michael Mann (the director) thinking. It was so amateur and seemed like a home movie. How could Colin Farrell act in it. Jamie Foxx, well the movie is fine for him, coz I don't like him anyway.

Now I can imagine what the movie Dallas is going to be like, crappy.

Other than that last night I went to workout at the gym, 20 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the bike, I felt really good after. Need to get into shape before Ramadaan. Oh yes, I forgot to mention I am muslim.

My friend Booty had a small accident with her car last night.... I hope she is doing okay.

I am currently 25 :) and staying in the City of Gold in South Africa. I live with my flatmate and my younger sister has recently moved in with me and she has also started a new job.

Life is good, comfortable living, great friends, good job (Office/Project Manager). I am currently fighting a mini bulge, picked up some extra kilos and now I am battling to get rid of it, it is amazing, a three years ago I was slim and then I was suffering from anxiety and my doc put me on some crazy antidepressants and they made me pick up weight. Damn!

So now I am fighting the mini-bulge and also to relieve my stress shopping alot (which is really bad for my bank balance).

It was my birthday last month and I have made a few birthday resolutions:

- Lose the extra baggage
- Stop spending uneccessarily
- Look after my health

A few of my passions are:

- Victoria Beckham (not only do I admire her beauty and her fashion sense, but her busy lifestyle and still finding time to be a mother, I guess people with loads of money should not be selfish when it comes to kids)
- Cosmetics and Hair care
- I love the web, it is an endless resource of information
- My man! He has been there for me through the worst of it all, he has helped me be the person I am today!

My first entry... and an entry to another world, the online world where anyone can pretend to be someone else.

Unfortunately I am me, and it is already really difficult being me so why be someone else? Far too much work.

So I am writing my first entry and also thinking about what the readers wanna know about me.... Well my next post will explain my character in full.
